Intense rainfall brought by the southwest monsoon has forced Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong to suspend government work starting Wednesday noon, July 28.

Magalong said the temporary suspension will allow government workers in all local agencies of national government offices to go home early for their safety.

“Work shall be temporarily suspended, owing to inclement weather, to safeguard the general welfare of all persons in the city, and to allow our workers and employees to go home early so that they may be secured in their residence as we wait for improved weather conditions,” he said in his executive order.

The city, along with other parts of the Cordillera Region, have been experiencing heavy rainfall and strong winds for over 10 days triggering landslides and floods. Zeus Legaspi
