The number of Filipinos violating public health restrictions increased as the country imposed more lenient protocols, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said on Wednesday.

In a meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte, Año said 107,858 health protocol violations were recorded from Oct. 1 to Nov. 6.

The majority of the violations were Filipinos not wearing face masks, Año said.

Almost 72,000 cases of this violation were recorded in the time period.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government also recorded 34,972 cases of physical-distancing violations and 927 mass gatherings.

According to Año’s presentation, the violators were warned, fined, required to do community service or arrested.
