The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has revealed all the 50 soldiers who succumbed in the C-130 plane crash in Sulu.

In a statement, the AFP released the names of the bodies retrieved from the crash site that have been successfully identified through DNA testing.  They are were: 

  • Corporal Dexter E Estrada (Philippine Army)
  • Corporal Reynel A Matundin (Philippine Army)
  • Corporal Gulam H Ismael (Philippine Army)
  • Private First Class Bengie S Malanog (Philippine Army)
  • Private Ian R Azuelo (Philippine Army)
  • Private Erwin M Canton (Philippine Army)
  • Private Mansueto B Lingatong III (Philippine Army)
  • Private Mar Jhun T Capagngan (Philippine Army)
  • Private Michael C Dalore (Philippine Army)
  • Airman Second Class Glen Mar G Biscocho (Philippine Air Force)

 

The bodies of the soldiers have already been transported to their respective hometowns to be with their families. 

“The AFP condoles with the families of our deceased comrades in this time of grief,” the AFP said, noting that support and assistance, including benefits will be given to the families.

The PNP-SOCO also helped in naming the 50 cadavers of the military personnel.

The C-130 plane failed to land at the Jolo airport and crashed in Barangay Bangkal in Patikul.

Total fatalities was at 53, with three of which are civilians. Moreover, 46 servicemen and four civilians were injured. 

Majority of the victims’ bodies were beyond recognition. 

“The memories of our brave comrades who paid the ultimate sacrifice will live on not only in their families but throughout the military organization who continues to risk everything to achieve just and lasting peace for our nation,” the AFP said.
