The Abu Sayyaf kidnap and terror group killed two government troops and a two-year-old child in Sulu in an ambush on Monday in what the military said was an act of “disrespect” and “treachery” during the Muslim feast of Eid al-Adha or Feast of Sacrifice.
The ambush occurred at 8:45 a.m. on Monday in the populated Kagay village in Talipao town, as a soldier and a civilian auxiliary passed by aboard a motorcycle, the Joint Task Force (JTF) Sulu said in a statement.
Killed were PFC Joie Halasan of the 2nd Special Forces Battalion and a militiaman, Aldazier Hassan of the 1st Sulu CAA Company.
Two children were wounded: Salma Abdukalim Sahisa, 2 and Darna Abdukalim Sahisa, 11. Abdukalim died art 12:56 p.m. while Darna Abdukalim as in critical condition.
The joint task force said the two government troops killed were brought to the Camp Bautista Station Hospital for postmortem examination, while the children were brought to the Integrated Provincial Health Office in Jolo, Sulu.
Personnel from the joint task force donated blood for the surgical operation of the children victims.
The military said the family of the deceased child was “enraged” as the incident occurred during the Feast of Sacrifice.
“We assure the families and friends of the victims that the JTF Sulu will do our best to ensure that the perpetrators of this treacherous acts will be brought to justice,” said Maj. Gen.l Corleto Vinluan Jr., commander of the task force. (PressONE.ph)
