Three months after going off-air and one month after being denied its franchise renewal, ABS-CBN announced its shift from broadcast to online digital space.

The network announced the launch of Kapamilya Online Live, which will operate on their official YouTube and Facebook accounts to live stream all of its content.

Kapamilya Online Live started airing, Saturday, August 1.

“This marks another milestone in the ABS-CBN digital transformation that began in recent years as audiences continued to consume more and more content online,” ABS-CBN said in a statement.

“The company also operates the streaming service iWant, which boasts of the largest library of Filipino content and with over 11 million subscribers,” the network added.

According to ABS-CBN Chief Operating Officer for broadcast Cory Vidanes, the network’s shift to online platforms “demonstrates the company’s commitment” to remain in service of the Filipino audience regardless of the situation.

It was recently disclosed by the network that they would focus on “business that do not require legislative franchise,” which include digital channels, cable, international licensing and distribution, and production of content for various streaming services.

On July 10, the House Committee on Legislative Franchises denied ABS-CBN a new 25-year franchise which left the jobs of 11,000 of its workers in peril. Jayziel Khim Budino
