Six areas across the country are being monitored by the Department of Health (DOH) for the uptick of hospital admissions.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in an interview with dzBB that among the six areas, four are in the National Capital Region (NCR), one in Calabarzon, and one in Northern Mindanao.

One of the factors they are looking at was the increase of Covid-19 infections in the past weeks.

“Maaring nagbaba ng number ng Covid beds, maari ring ang pumapasok na admissions natin ay mild and asymptomatic, maari rin naman na pagka sa ICU ang gamit, maaaring pumasok na iba ang kondisyon pero kapag nagpa-test for screening, biglang lumalabas na positibo sila,” she said.

The DOH’s data on Monday showed 554 severe and critical Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment in hospitals.

A total of 385 or 14.6% of the 2,636 ICU beds were in use, while 4,033 or 18.2% of the 22,156 non-ICU COVID-19 beds were not available.
