The total number of Filipinos overseas who got infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) reached 5,490 after 21 new positive cases were confirmed by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday.
Recoveries jumped to 2,369 after 3 more patients won the fight against COVID-19, while death toll increased to 395 after 5 patients surrendered to the disease.
Patients undertaking medical treatment leaped to 2,726.

No new cases of infections among overseas Filipinos were reported in the Asia Pacific Region which has a current total of 551 infections, 442 recoveries, 2 fatalities, and 107 patients undergoing treatment.
The Middle East and Africa, on the other hand, recorded a total of 3,398 COVID-19 infections: 3 new cases, 1,379 recoveries, 146 fatalities, 1,873 patients under treatment.
Europe logged 871 infections: 299 recoveries, 91 fatalities, 481 patients under treatment.
Meanwhile, the American continent documented 670 COVID-19 infections: 249 recoveries, 156 fatalities, 265 patients under treatment. (RJ Espartinez)
