Occidental Mindoro was jolted by a magnitude 5.3 earthquake on Monday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said. 

The tectonic earthquake happened at 3:22 p.m., the Phivolcs said.

The quake’s epicenter was found at 13.58°N, 120.68°E – 016 km N 18° W of Abra De Ilog.

Its depth of focus was 106 kilometers. 

Intensity III was registered at Puerto Galera and Oriental Mindoro while Intensity II was registered at Quezon City 

Instrumental Intensities were also experienced in the following areas:

  • Intensity III – Calapan City; Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro
  • Intensity II – Batangas City; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Tagaytay City; Magalang, Pampanga
  • Intensity I – Muntinlupa City; Carmona, Cavite
