More healthcare workers in the Philippines are testing positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

The Department of Health (DOH) said Monday that 493 more medical frontliners tested positive for Covid-19 over the past week, raising the total to 6,499 as of August 15.

The Health Department added that 693 more healthcare workers recovered, bringing total recoveries to 5,759. Death toll remained at 39.

There are currently 701 active cases undergoing treatment or quarantine.

Nurses remain the most susceptible among medical workers with 2,269 infections follower by doctors with 1,368, nursing assistants with 454, medical technologists with 282, and midwives with 140 cases.

Meanwhile, 500 non-medical personnel such as administrative staff, security guards and utility workers are included in the list of confirmed cases.  Rommel F. Lopez
