The Philippines continues to register more recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) than fatalities with 41 new recoveries as reported by the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday bringing the country’s total number of recoveries to 613.
The country’s COVID-19 death toll, on the other hand, spiked to 428 after the health department’s daily bulletin confirmed 19 new deaths from the infection.
COVID-19 cases in the country maintained its daily 200-mark after 200 new infections were reported by the Health Department, bringing the country’s total number of cases to 6,459.
The tally of COVID-19 cases this week may be reduced due to temporary scale-down of operations at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine to accommodate safety procedures, according to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire on Sunday.
Singapore maintains the top spot in Southeast Asia for the most number of COVID-19 cases with 8,014. Indonesia is still behind with 6,760 followed by the Philippines. (RJ Espartinez)
