Four unnamed individuals are being closely monitored by the Department of Health (DOH) Region 9 for the novel coronavirus.

The persons under monitoring (PUM) came from Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga City, according to Dr. Joshua Brillantes, DOH assistant regional director.

They are currently placed under quarantine for 14 days while being observed by medical professionals. The monitoring will end on February 10.

“They are Filipinos. They went to China for a vacation,” Brillantes said.

Region 9, as Brillantes stated, is still free from 2019-nCoV with no people classified as Persons Under Investigation (PUI).

As of this writing, the DOH confirmed three cases of 2019-nCoV in the country with one death. (RJ Espartinez)
