The cities of Manila, Makati, Pasay and Paranaque will experience water interruptions starting March 5 due to a major pipe repair, Maynilad Water Services Inc. (Maynilad) said.

Ronald Padua, Maynilad’s head of water supply operations, said during a press briefing that residents of affected areas in Makati, Pasay, Paranaque and Manila will experience up to 57 hours of water supply interruptions in surrounding areas starting March 5 at 3:00 p.m. until March 7 at 11:59 p.m.. He advised residents of these cities to store water that would last up to three days.

He added that the repair of the 2,200 millimeter-diameter steel pipe along Osmeña Highway corner Zobel Roxas, Makati City will take 52 hours. However, the extent of the damage is not yet determined and if there will be a need to extend the service interruption.

Maynilad said “to mitigate the impact of the pipe repair activity,” it will be adding seven stationary water tanks and releasing 30 tankers to distribute water to affected areas “particularly those that will experience 57 hours straight of interrupted supply.”
