Four employees of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) who were involved in Covid-19 response operations tested positive for the virus, Vice President Maria Leonor Robredo’s spokesman Barry Gutierrez said on Sunday.

Operations at the OVP were immediately suspended and Covid-19 testing was immediately conducted on OVP personnel who were working at the office or in the field, including Robredo.

The vice president tested negative.

Contact tracing is being conducted to locate those who have interacted with the Covid-19-positive staffers.

Despite the office lockdown, Gutierrez assured the public that the OVP’s pandemic response and assistance would continue.

“Now that a handful of staffers have actually tested positive for the virus, and while we will take every precaution to protect the rest of our staff, our commitment to continue our work to support our nation’s Covid-19 response efforts remains firm and undimmed,” Gutierrez said. RJ Espartinez
