The Department of Foreign Affairs announced the arrival of 390 returning overseas Filipino workers (OFW) from Norway and Laos arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Saturday.
125 land-based OFWs from Laos flew in via Air Asia flight Z2 8293, while 265 sea-based OFWs from Norway arrived on Evelop Air EV flight 659.
“Our kababayans had been eagerly waiting to return back home for months. They are just days closer to reuniting with their families,” the DFA said.
The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging and Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) One Stop Shop guided the repatriated OFWs at the airport, making sure that the arriving workers would arrive safely at their homes.
“Upon arrival, they underwent RT-PCR COVID-19 testing, thorough documentation screening as well as briefing on current safety protocols prescribed by the IATF-EID,” the DFA said.
They were also offered psycho-social counseling from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
According to the DFA, all of them will stay temporarily at the Bureau of Quarantine-approved facilities for mandatory quarantine while waiting for the results of their RT-PCR test. (RJ Espartinez)
