Koronadal City – 27,000 farmers tilling an equivalent area of about 49 thousand hectares in the province have insured their crops with the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC).

According to Jozy Palita, PCIC insurance under writer, PCIC has already extended about P6 million to the farmers within Region 12 just for the first half of the year.

Crops that PCIC insures under this program are rice, corn and other high value crops.  Even non-crop agricultural assets that are destroyed by natural calamities are also covered.

Palita adds that farmers who wish to apply for the program and services of PCIC can proceed to their city or municipal agriculture office in their areas. (Amiel Cagayan)
