The Department of Health (DOH) – Davao Region reported 16 new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the Davao region on May 30, Friday.

Of the 16 new cases, 15 are in Davao City and one in Davao del Sur.  Other provinces in the region have the same number of cases since May 29: 15 in Davao del Norte, two in Davao de Oro, 15 in Davao Oriental and two in Davao Occidental.

The region now has a total of 343 COVID-19 cases.  Davao City accounts for 298 or 86.37% of the total cases.

The May 29 case report of the DOH included a five-year-old girl from Cagangan, Banaybanay, Davao Oriental testing positive for COVID-19 while the oldest is a 79-year old female from Matina Aplaya in Davao.

The entire island of Mindanao will be under a more relaxed Modified Community Quarantine starting June 1.  However, Davao City which remains the area with the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Mindanao, followed by Zamboanga City.  will still be under General Community Quarantine starting June 1 up to June 15.  (Rommel F.
