16 individuals are under investigation by the Department of Health in Caraga (DOH-13) amidst the rising numbers of those affected by the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) worldwide.
Local health officials said the individuals are categorized as PUM (persons under monitoring) even though they don’t have any symptoms of the 2019-nCoV but have existing travel history in China in the last 14 days.
DOH-13 further added that they are strictly observing the PUIs in the area via local surveillance officers and strong coordination with the Inter-Agency Task Force and other stakeholders.
As of this writing, Caraga region has no reported case of the infectious coronavirus.
Surigao del Norte Governor Francisco Matugas, on the other hand, released Executive Order No. 20-004 last week, encouraging residents, tourists, travelers, and all concerned agencies and stakeholders in the province to take extra safety measures against the deadly virus.
Residents are also encouraged to stay calm but cautious. (RJ Espartinez)
