The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) announced that the government has already released 1.7 million national ID cards as of September 10.

PSA Assistant Secretary Rosalinda Bautista said 42 million Filipinos have already registered for the national ID.

Registration is online via register.philsys.gov.ph where applicants must provide their name, address, date of birth, and other essential details.

The applicant will receive a text message and email from the PSA once the online registration is completed. The message will contain the appointment schedule for capturing of biometric information: iris scans, fingerprint scans, and front-facing photograph, including verification of the personal details the individuals previously provided via online registration.

Applicants will also be given an opportunity to open a bank account in government-owned Landbank at the registration site. Ronald Espartinez
