The Philippines reported on Monday 6,835 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, pushing the nationwide tally to 3,616,387.
This marks the seventh consecutive day where new infections reported did not exceed the 10,000 mark.
The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed all Covid-19 laboratories were functional on February 5, but two labs failed to submit their reports on time.
Among the new cases reported, 6,673 (98%) happened from January 25 to February 7, 2022.
The National Capital Region (NCR) topped the regions with the most number of new cases at 949 or 14% of total new cases reported; followed by Western Visayas with 822 or 12%; and Central Visayas with 624 or 9%.
Currently, there are 116,720 active Covid-19 infections undergoing medical treatment: 7,806 are asymptomatic; 103,900 are mild; 3,184 are moderate; 1,495 are severe; and 335 are critical.
Meanwhile, the country’s recovery rate increased to 3,445,129 with 16,330 more patients winning the fight against the deadly respiratory illness.
Death toll, on the other hand, climbed to 54,538 with 12 new fatalities.
